Puppy Linux 8.0 Missing This Driver: iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode

Post by Meta Master »

I reported this issue in the forums here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=748

In my final post on that thread, I noted the solution was downloading a driver not supplied by Puppy Linux.

That driver is iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode, which was mandatory for my Latitude e6430 laptop's Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wifi adapter to function with Puppy Linux.

I found the driver in this thread in a post by user tempestuous: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 421#497421

This should be included as a wifi module you can choose in the next update for the main build of Puppy Linux (currently 8.0) to ensure a working out of the box experience without having to save changes to the physical disc (I am using a physical disc).

Please know, the whole point of this for me was I wanted to have it boot off a CD without requiring me to save any changes, and run out of the box. So, saving in this case ruins the novelty of being able to pop in a disc with a tiny OS on it and being able to instantly use its core functions without any barriers or mandatory downloads.
