FIREFOX 109 fails to update

Post by wasley51 »

Greetings;
BIONIC 32; Firefox originally installed from sfs;(main screen/internet/get web browser).

Recently firefox drop down window indicated updated version available which I clicked OK. It downloaded updates but failed to update.

Every time I open Firefox, it tries to do the updating but fails and continues in version 109.
Any idea why this won't update?
Thanks.

@wasley51 :-

Quite simple. Because SFS packages are read-only.....and therefore cannot be written-to.

My portable browser packages get round this by being in the normal, read/write condition all the time, so the internal updater will function as it should. See here:-

Thanks Mike for your reply;
Actually I'm kind of a plug and play guy, so I'd like to ask if I could just remove the Firefox I have and get maybe a pet package for a lightweight browser that is easy to update. My needs are quite simple, I like firefox and seamonkey but I'm not limited to them.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
Mark
