Gparted in Upupbb32 (Bionicpup32) incompatibility with older Gparted versions ?

Post by rolandradio »

When I run Gparted from Slacko, Tahr, Wary and so on, the Partition is showing correctly, and I can mount all partitions, but when I run Gparted from Upupbb32, the partition is not readeble and I cannot mount it, only the Home partition is readebly why I boot it from.

It seems Upupbb 32 has some incompatibility with older Gparted versions.
What's going wrong here ?

Tested Gparted versions:
Wary 0.7.0
Tahr 0.16.1
Slacko 6 0.23.0
Upupbb-32 0.30.0

Tested on different computers.

@rolandradio

Oh, the topic of Gparted with uPupBB is interesting.
Recently I purchased a number of thumb-drives. Different brands.
Generally I found SanDisk to be reliable. I got a 16GiB SanDisk drive in the mail.
I set out to re-partition & format.
FAT32 for P1. Ext 3 for P2. Failed to complete P2.
Erased the partition table. Re-formatted 16GiB as FAT32. Seemed to finish.
Erased the partition table.
Tried to repeat the original format. (P1 as FAT32 and so on).
Now the drive isn't detected (using uPupBB32) when I search for it with G-parted.

In other words, you seem to suggest I may get success with a different version of Puppy.

Interesting!

The main trouble I cannot mount the second partition under Upupbb, but under other distro's I can mount it.
And it's possible because Gparted under Upupbb cannot regonize the whole partition table, that's why it won't mount it.

HDD type:
Seagate 500gb Sata
Primary Partition 1 FAT32 Boot,LBA
Primary Partition 2 FAT32 LBA

Sandisk is mostly reliable, I have that experience too.

hello @rolandradio

Set out to boot other versions of Puppy Linux to check the operation of gParted on a non-uPupBB32 system. Failed. I generally boot alternate puppies from a 'live' CD. It seems the CD drive on my principal Linux box spat the dummy after I used it last.

Have several other PCs with a CD.
Will get one out and use it soon.

All the best! Woof!

I tested with Fossapup64 and the same information for Gparted: unknown partition and the little cubic is colloured black as it is unformatted for Gparted.

b.t.w when I boot Upupbb32 without the upupbbsave.4fs file, then I can Mount the partition.
