kernel 5.15+ has a subtle revolution afoot

Post by Clarity »

Some very interesting coordinated changes are active suggesting a larger picture for LInux Kernel: Machine boot process and expansion of locations for boot materials (eg. initrd additions).

My current view(s) are explained via an
Official Linux Kernel site (updated to include kernel v5.15.0-rc1).

In looking at 4 different elements in that document surround SMB, FileSystem FS), Intel's submits and EFI, it presents a compelling picture of where we might be going as today's technology evolves: This includes the incorporation of NTFS and the security model it will bring to make it more inline with current Linux FS models.

Enjoy the ride into our future as it appears that the 'CALL' for the 100 programmers are coming to the rescue.

This post moved to the Security section of Off-Topic area since it fits this forum better, rather
than in the Additional Software, Pets, SFSs, forum.
