How to get rid of the greeting and setup stuff after remastering?

Post by oui »

how to avoid all the greeting and announcing little windows after remastering as they are non sens pure as far you remaster for the own usage: you know Puppy and don't wish a Donald Trump's twits on your screen  ?

idem quitting the system with the question if you want save ...

(the menu does that in realistic situation well enough... )

Re: boot after remastering

This is for Puppy only!

The existence of file /etc/personal_settings_popup_disabled will suppress the "Personal Settings" dialog at boot.

To suppress the "Welcome First Boot" dialog, you'll need to edit file /usr/sbin/delayedrun.
In /usr/sbin/delayedrun search for welcome1stboot and comment the line out.

To suppress the save option dialog at shutdown/reboot you'll need to edit files /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown and /usr/sbin/shutdownconfig. Within these files search for timeout or --timeout and change its value from e.g. 60 to 1 - at least it should be 1, as 0 will cause trouble and 1 second is still enough to create a save file etc. at shutdown.
