DeaDBeeF version

Post by darksun »

Hi,
just continuing playing with vanilla dpup.

BWpup64's deadbeef is version 1.9.6 whilst vanilla dpup's one is still 1.8.8 since a while.

Just curious, it is hold back for any reason in particular?

Thank you.

@darksun :-

TBH, DeaDBeeF's improvements over the years have been pretty minimal. For what most will want it for, OscarTalks' elderly 'static' 0.7.2 will do everything that the current 1.9.6 is capable of.

I often strip out the newer builds and replace 'em with an older one.....but that's just me. "Horses for courses" (of course)..!! :D

Yes, this is intentional! 1.8.8 is lighter, and >=1.9.0 only builds with clang.

But this is not stock 1.8.8 - I backported PipeWire support from 1.9.x to 1.8.8 through a patch (https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/4081).
