2024 Intel Desktops will contain this - AMDs, too.

Post by Clarity »

The new manufacturer's spec for 2024 is as follows:
1x 3.5 mm jack
1x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet
1x DC input
1x HDMI 2.1 (18 Gbps)
2x Thunderbolt 4
1x USB 2.0 Type-A
3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A

AMDs Desktops will differ using USB 4s instead of Thunderbolts.

I am expecting that 1 USB-C post will accompany each manufacturer's desktop although not shown in spec. Official publish of spec to manufacturers could be as early as 11/15/23.

The new manufacturer's spec for 2024

Nobody cares. No money. Otherwise, we would change the computer every year. No, a month :)

Fossapup OS, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 64 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, Sound Blaster Audigy Rx with amplifier + Yamaha speakers for loud sound, USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro V3 + headphones for quiet sound.

Thunderbolt is usb-c cable compatible I believe, just faster and uses different cable itself despite the compatibility in plug.

USB 3.2 Gen 2

I recently found out that my motherboard supports 3.2 Gen 2 (two connectors). For some reason (sclerosis?) I was sure that I only had Gen 1 (these are the other 4 connectors out of 6 blue).
I bought an external enclosure for an NVME drive that supports Gen 2 (to make a high-speed "flash drive"). But I haven't tested it yet. There is no special need. And I'm a proud bird - until you kick, I won't fly Image

YES! (what was I thinking??? )

The AMD spec for comparable PCs will have USB-Cs v4.0 instead of Thunderbolts. All other features remain the same.
