No, not all, the cache in apt/archives (deb packages) will be kept if running more than once (all the other stuff in bookworm folder will be deleted though, to really start fresh)

Looks like just removing the --splitter option is the best, then works OK for me with Yad-GTK2 and Yad-GTK3 (tested also with different Yad-GTK3 versions).
Also changed the volume code, will use amixer if exist. Please test.

@devildog Probably you need also to set GOPATH variable : https://go.dev/wiki/GOPATH#gopath-variable

Are you running the appimage shared at first post ? Or... what you run exactly ? And on which distro ?
The appimage makes use of Yad GTK2 (as included in the appimage) and no such problem with that.

If no-systemd is a true choice (not out of laziness or short on development skills, or whatever) it is ok IMHO. For example like Devuan is without systemd, it does have some limitations of course that the user has to accept, or use something else, simple.

Thanks Fred. However in Vanilladpup 11 there doesn't seem to be a ~/Startup....

Ah, didn't know, just now I tested on Vanilladpup 11, created folder ~/Startup, added a script in there and it runs ok for me after restart X.
