Qualculate - portable: handles algebraic expressions

Post by mikeslr »

Maybe other calculators can handle algrebraic expressions, but Qualculate makes it easy to see what you're doing.

It's both small and portable. You can download the tar.xz from here, https://qalculate.github.io/downloads.html , extract it and click the qualculate binary in the extracted folder.

It auto-updates. Well, my 3.3 version did to 4.4.0.

64bit version only!

In Galculator, that ships with almost every Puppy, try the "Formula Entry" Notation mode (Ctrl+F)
May be sufficient.

and Ctrl+n brings up RPN or reverse polish notation, one of the better calc programs to include the old HP standard

But does it provide 'history', like a roll of paper tape, to show previous calculations, which can be reused? That's one of the advantages of the likes of Qualculate, and Speedcrunch (which is simpler and one I like a lot) and in fact gnome-calculator. Previous commands shown like that are an essential for how I use calculator, aside from simple calculations when any calculator will do.

Hi @wiak,

look under menu>view - there is a "paper mode" and you can reuse/combine previous calculations.
