ptm timer 3.4

Post by don570 »

A simple timer/alarm script that can be used to wake you up with a mp3 song.
It works with most default audio players.

Localization - French,German,Italian,Spanish,Russian, portuguese, simplified Chinese

Multiple alarms are possible. Maximum countdown is about 30 hours.
No restriction on alarm dates -- but don't shutdown your computer!!!
That kills the task.

Stop button is placed in main window . This is a convenience !!!
So you don't need to use the terminal to
stop a scheduled alarm. Log book will note that stop button has been clicked.

Test button - will test audio level so you can check if audio will be heard clearly

I recommend that you store your mp3 file in /root folder or /file folder so that if
you forget to mount your hard drive the timer will still work with the mp3 file.
If it doesn't find the mp3 file it reverts back to default.
but you should get a warning message that this has been done at launch time.

Note ; if you are having problems shutting off a long mp3 song, then
try installing mpg123 or mpg321 instead of default audio player. But with most puppies this shouldn't be necessary.
I added a restriction of about 30 hours to the countdown timer, however there is no restriction to choosing a date and time for the alarm.

You are aware of crontab @don570

crontab -e ... to edit. With the full version of cron installed you can even set it to run things at bootup (@reboot .....)

Call a script that runs whatever music player (or action(s)) you desire, maybe even maximising the sound level (amixer sset 'Master' 100%).

You might even set it to play a different mp3 for each weekday
