Found this info on the HP printers for the HPLIP drivers

HP web site for Hplip driver:
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... g/gethplip
Stuff for Ubuntu or Debian will usually work in Puppy Linux.

This is providing the latest HPLIP version and it is probably going to need dependency stuff that is not in every Puppy version.
But really do not know until you try it.

Here is the older versions of HPLIP.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hplip/files/hplip/

Never used any of this stuff.
Maybe it will provide needed info others can use.

Note:
You need the Puppy versions devx sfs and kernel sources sfs loaded, to get the driver run package to work.

If someone can provide better info on how to use this stuff.
Please post and I will try to update this first post.

I used it . Got it to work for one printer by following the details provided very carefully. And I mean very carefully.
They are influenced by Microsoft and are intentionally making it as hard as possible for Linux users is my impression .

I bought 4 cheap printers and when I went back a second time to install the next one , buggered if I could make it work . Sold it to a schoolie with Windows on and put the rest on Gumtree. Still have one here if anyone wants one for $20.AUD

I'll never buy HP again I can assure you.

I installed hplip vía the packages manager with all its dependencies, and my old hp scanner works perfectly. My scanner is a scanjet hp 3400c. A very difficult device to manage even in Windows.
I tested it in bionicpup 32 and 64, but I'm sure that it would work in all the recent puppies.

I am surprised by this.

SANE has a built-in backend called "niash" that is supposed to support your Scanjet 3400c OOTB. And I can find no evidence in the HPLIP code that its "hpaio" backend supports the Scanjet 3400c.

Please open a terminal and run the command: scanimage -L

Which backend is selected?
