Re: Chinese language packages
Thanks @icake, we appreciate that!
I'm sure those who needs Chinese language support in Fatdog will find this helpful.
Question: is there any English guide on how to use it? Or are all the help/guides in Chinese?
What I'm asking is this: is the package useful only for people who can already speak/read/write Chinese, or are they also useful for people who __wants__ to learn Chinese?
Thank you again.
Re: Chinese language packages
1. is there any English guide on how to use it?
Besides a brief explanation written in English here: viewtopic.php?t=297
I have also written a pdf file "20210629_icake_pets_user_guide.pdf" that contains more detailed information about the icake pets and how to use them. This user guide is written in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. You can found it here:

2. is the package useful only for people who can already speak/read/write Chinese, or are they also useful for people who _wants_to_learn Chinese?
The icake pets provide English support in 2 stages:
a. half-Chinese pets:
i. has Chinese font file to enable the display of Chinese
ii. has Chinese input method platform to enable the user to input Chinese
b. Chinese pets:
converts the graphical user interface including desktop icon labels, window labels, menus and sub-menus, mouse move over pop-up tool-tips into Chinese (with a choice of Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese)
I would say (a)(i)is useful for people who can speak/read/write Chinese as well as people who wants to learn Chinese (because they can see Chinese characters in all the web-sites and documents) while (a) (ii) and (b) are more useful for the former.

Re: Chinese language packages
Will the 811 language pack work with 813?
I have installed the half-Chinese packages for fatdog 8.11 (13.1.0) and 8.12 (21.0.0f) to fatdog 8.13 and they all worked.
I am working on a new version of half-Chinese and Chinese packages for fatdog 8.13 now and will lease them in November.
Chinese language packages for Fatdog64-813
I have created a new series of Chinese language packages for Fatdog64-813:
(A) 5 half-Chinese language txzes:
fcitx Chinese input platform: fcitx64_4.2.7-en-zh-raring-321.0.5.txz (21 mb)
gcin Chinese input platform: gcin64_2.8.5-en-zh-raring-321.0.5.txz (13 mb)
hime Chinese input platform: hime64_0.9.11-en-zh-raring-321.0.5.txz (10 mb)
scim Chinese input platform: scim64_1.4.14-en-zh-raring-321.0.5.txz (14 mb)
yong Chinese input platform: yong64_2.5.0-en-zh-raring-321.0.5.txz (10 mb)
(B) 2 Chinese language txzes:
Simplified Chinese: fatdog64-813-zhcn-321.0.5.txz (4 mb)
Traditional Chinese: fatdog64-813-zhhk-321.0.5.txz (3 mb)
(C) 1 icake combo Chinese language txz: icake64-fatdog64-813-combo-est-fghsy-321.0.5.txz(70 mb)
After installing this icake combo Chinese language txz, user can select:
a. 1 user interface language from: English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese
b. 1 Chinese input method platform (number of Chinese input methods included) from:
1. fcitx (33)
2. gcin (15)
3. hime (10)
4. scim (23)
5. yong (25)
so the total number of different live systems that can be setup from this icake Chinese combo txz is 15:
18 = 3 [user interface languages] X 5 [Chinese input method platforms]
To use:
(c) after install any 1 of the 5 half-Chinese language txzes under (a): your Fatdog64 813 system can display and input Chinese (desktop menus, sub-menus and icon labels are still English)
(d) after install any 1 of the 5 half-Chinese language txzes under (a) and also install 1 of the 2 the version corresponding Chinese language txz under (b), your Fatdog64 813 system can display and input Chinese; plus your desktop menus, sub-menus and icon labels are changed to Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese
for more information about the fcitx, gcin, hime, scim and yong half-Chinese language pets, please see: https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=297
All these half-Chinese and Chinese language pets are now available for download from the public sharing folders: https://sourceforge.net/projects/icakec ... y%20Linux/
