@ozsouth

As always, I am a big fan :thumbup:

I made a request awhile ago regarding the inclusion of the new updated i915 Gfx driver

viewtopic.php?t=10126

Is this included in this offering?

"As mentioned, it won't be used by default but will require the xe.force_probe= behavior to avoid all current Intel graphics hardware defaulting to the mature i915 driver support."

@Jasper - sorry, I forgot to check, so no unfortunately. I now see it's line 5994 in DOTconfig.

@ozsouth

Thanks for getting back to me :thumbup:

Not to worry, I know that you release updates quarterly or thereabouts, so hopefully it 'could be' included in the next release?

It's such an old driver and has been present in kernels for years, so the update was eagerly anticipated. Plus, it's the most commonly used Intel onboard Gfx driver used.

Hopefully, in your next compilation/build it will be included :thumbup2:

Re-released as ver aoe - using older gcc & glibc for better compatibility with older pups. drm_xe included as module. See 1st post.

I've been running the 6.8.4 (first aoi, then aoe) kernel on VoidPup64 02222024 version (rolled back due to the xz malware), LxPupSc64 23.01 +6, and with structure usrmerge adjusted on Bookworm64 10.0.6 for a couple of days now. Basically uneventful in all 3. Clean dmesg in BW64, one minor dmesg error in LxPup64 and Voidpup64, an elogind-uaccess ACL error I've seen and dealt with before. Good idle resource use, good glxgear FPS, normal daily use, lidsuspend, reboots, etc in all 3. No extensive multimedia tests. Sound, the usual video clips all ok in Brave, Slimjet, and un-googled chromium portables.

One of my standard second gen i5 based all Intel Fujitsu S761 laptops as hardware. Kernel supported Atheros wifi card so no fdrv used. The Bookworm64 install is ydrv driven with no savefile, the other two are pretty bog standard frugal installs with savefiles to a FAT32 boot partition on SSD with all data, shared profiles, portables on an EXT2 partition on that SSD.

All in all it seems a go here.

Thanks,
