How to get BookwormPup64 10.0.6 to print on my old Canon MX340 inkjet printer? (solved)

(At this time of year I print my filled in Form 1040 spread sheet on
my old Canon MX340 inkjet printer connected to my Puppy Linux PC via
a USB cable. I have been doing this for several years using FossaPup64.
My PC is a: Dell Inspiron 3646 Small Desktop, CPU J2900 Pentium 2.41 GHz, 4 GB memory)

Since I have now begun using the new BookwormPup64 10.0.6 on that PC,
I thought I should first test its CUPS printing anything on my old Canon MX340 printer.

I started BookwormPup64 10.0.6 CUPS and then went to Administration
and was pleased when CUPS "discovered" my USB Canon MX340 printer.
However, I then seemed to have difficulty finding any MXxxx printers on the
drop down list of Canon printers.

Thanks for any help.

After pondering my CUPS BOOKWORM issue for days, I thought I'd might try to follow
in the footsteps of Fossapup64's Ubuntu printing method (thanks 666philb) which worked
for my old Canon MX340 printer:
(I noticed that with Fossapup64, my printer was listed by CUPS as
not just "CUPS" but "CUPS+Gutenprint".)

I saw that the gutenprint package supported my Canon MX340 as well as "lots"
of other Canon models (as well as "lots" of other brands of printers):
https://gimp-print.sourceforge.io/p_Sup ... inters.php

So I tried to install gutenprint from the Debian repositories:
(first updating apt-get in a terminal with the command: apt-get update )
and then I used menu+Setup+Package manager (Synaptic) to search for gutenprint.

Synaptic suggested the following:
gutenprint-doc.
gutenprint-locales.
libgutenprint-common.
libgutenprint9.
libpkgconf3:amd64.
pkgconf-bin.
pkgconf:amd64.
pkg-config:amd64.
libgutenprint-dev.
libgutenprintui2-2.
libgutenprintui2-dev.
printer-driver-gutenprint.
and I "Apply"ed them.

I used Firefox to start CUPS again and I was able to select my Canon
"CUPS+Gutenprint" model MX340 and then change the printer's default paper size to: letter
and then printed a few pages.

Maybe the above will help someone else blow the dust off their old printer !
