Intel Laptop Users Should Avoid Linux 5.19.12 To Avoid Potentially Damaging The Display
Written by Michael Larabel in Intel on 4 October 2022 at 11:16 AM EDT. 50 Comments
INTEL -- Intel laptop users running Linux are being advised to avoid running the latest Linux 5.19.12 stable kernel point release as it can potentially damage your display.Intel Linux laptop users on Linux 5.19.12 have begun reporting "white flashing" display issues with one user describing it as "[the] laptop display starts to blink like lights in a 90's rave party."
Intel Linux kernel engineer Ville Syrjäl posted today on the kernel mailing list:
After looking at some logs we do end up with potentially bogus panel power sequencing delays, which may harm the LCD panel.Greg, I recommend immediate revert of this stuff, and new stable release ASAP. Plus a recommendation that no one using laptops with Intel GPUs run 5.19.12.
Greg Kroah-Hartman has immediately released Linux 5.19.13 with the problematic Intel graphics driver patches reverted.
Greg commented, "This release is to resolve a regression on some Intel graphics systems that had problems with 5.19.12. If you do not have this problem with 5.19.12, there is no need to upgrade."

That's weird I'm using the 6.0-lxpup64 kernel and I have not encountered that bug yet. I wonder what cause this kind of bug. My PC was skylake

S15Pup is released - viewtopic.php?t=7464
Chromium for older 32-bit Pups may disappear as the older 14.2 build is happy with older libs.......
As Alien-Bob says - if you like Chromium it may be time to update to a more recent 32-bit or 64-bit Puppy......
AlienBob wrote:I will stop releasing Chromium packages for Slackware 14.2 after February 2nd, 2023. On that day, Slackware 15.0 is one year old and I expect that everybody who uses a graphical desktop on Slackware, will have upgraded from Slackware 14.2 to 15.0 during that year. If you did upgrade yet but still want to use my Chromium browser packages, you still have two months' time to prepare and execute that upgrade.
Chromium packages for Slackware 15.0 and -current will of course keep coming.

@peebee :-
Thanks for this, Pete. Working very well in BK's old Quirky April, along with a glibc upgrade to 2.27. Great stuff.....much appreciated, mate.

Xfce-4.18 ydrv addons for LxPupSc & LxJammyPup32:
Swapped in and running well in the current VoidPup64 and S15Pup64 pups, both with LXDE ydrvs, and in a pruned bdrv driven non-savefile install of fossapup64 9.6, JWM WM and tray + PcManFM. My Atheros wifi cards continue to be supported in kernel. All tests so far are on the all intel i5 based Fujitsu S761 and S762 laptops.
Good clean boot and dmesg in all, idle resource unchanged from earlier 6.x.x kernels in all 3 pups, lidsuspend ok. Daily use split between the VoidPup64 and the fossapup64_9.6 installs now.
Thanks,
Update: Enough runtime/suspends so the lidsuspend fail related to tpm_tis showed up in my F96_4-CE_radky4 install running @peebees' 6.1.1 kernel. Reported earlier with 6.1.0 in VoidPup64 here: viewtopic.php?p=76050#p76050 under 6.1.0. The patch I used there in /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh works fine in this instance also. This almost certainly is hardware dependent so I view it as a note only.
