Question about Xenial 7.5 document or file properties times/dates.

Find your document or file, right click to properties and it shows;
the size
change time
modify time
access time
the type
extended attributes
Handy! I got used to the older Puppys. 4 series thru the 5 series.
I could see WHEN I originally wrote the document or created the file and the changes I made over time. I usually had three different dates/times listed.
I have loads of technical documents/files and like to see when I created them for reference.
When I switched to Xenial 7.5, all dates/times listed often are the same.
Is there a way to cure this or is it the nature of the beasts?

p.s. I don't believe it's a hardware difference but could be wrong.
The old XP machine never saw Xenial, the old Vista machine and the new/old 7 machines have.
