PuppyUSB: Puppy Linux for Screenwriters

Post by sonny »

A Puppy Linux makeover
"Plug and play" (preinstalled in USB; no setup "hassles")

+ No menu "hell" for maximum focus, minimum ruckus
+ (Cairo) Dock operation (with "Findnrun" and easy to remember shortcuts)
+ Ready to use free VPN (ProtonVPN, freevpn.me, VPN Gate)

Screen action on YouTube: https://youtu.be/_cJIGk2ay_E

Image made with RescueZilla:

"Minimum experimenting, maximum screenwriting."
"Minimum anxiety, maximum productivity."

Happy (unhappy) world mental health day!

Not sure if this would be helpful suggestion for this offering:

  • A new "user guide" to crating this OS on any kind of a disk for booting (aka SDcard/USBflash/local-drive/etc)?

  • Have you considered an bootable ISO file offering?

Just a couple of thoughts

HOW TO FLASH THE RESCUEZILLA IMAGE:

1. Extract "PuppyUSB-RZ.tar" to "PuppyUSB-RZ" folder
2. Click on the Restore icon
3. Select the partition where the image is located
4. Select the folder where the image is located in (Browse...)
5. Select the "PuppyUSB-RZ" folder
6. Select the media to restore the image file to

HOW TO FLASH THE CLONEZILLA IMAGE (to a single or multiple media SDcard/USBflash/local-drive at once):

1. Extract "PuppyUSB.tar" to "PuppyUSB" folder
2. Reboot computer with clonezilla (https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php)
3. Select "device-image"
4. Select "local_dev"
5. Select the partition containing "PuppyUSB" folder
6. Select "restoredisk" (if you wish to flash multiple media, select "1-2-mdisks")
7. Select the image file to restore ("PuppyUSB")
8. Select or tick the media you wish to restore to

Note: I made it in SAMSUNG FIT Plus 32GB (it's partitioned in f2fs so you can always expand it for larger capacity media)
Our Puppy deserves the best home, so provide it with the best media in the market...

It's beta. The release version (Puppy for mainstream users) is coming soon.
