Driver archive

Post by ozsouth »

Many old drivers can be found here:
https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... river_Repo

Use at own risk.

A lot of these drivers are compiled for a specific Linux kernel.
This is required and must be considered.
They only work in the specific kernel compiled for.

Do not try one that is not identified for the kernel you are using.

How to identify kernel compiled for:
Look at the name of the driver package file.
The number beginning with K is the kernel.
Example:
8188eu_slacko64-k4.1.11.pet
This is for the 4.1.11 kernel.

Tests to run if your wifi doesn't work:

When booted up, open a terminal (console), maximise it & run:

lspci -nn | grep etwork (that's a lowercase L to start with, & pipe symbol in the middle is often shift + \ keys)

then run:

dmesg | grep irmware

Then take a screenshot (prtscn key) or copy the details & make a post in Beginners or Users forum section.

Reason: provide better info about how to pick and use these
