Dear friends, Please provide me a driver pet for the dongle and details are as follows.
Dlink DWA-123 rev D1
rtl8188eu
USB\VID_2001&PID_3310&REV_0000
Slacko64 Puppy 6.3.2
kernel 4.1.11
@issac99289928 - 2hours & 500mb downloads later, your .pet is attached below. Use at own risk.
Boot up slacko64-6.3.2 (kernel 4.1.11), then insert usb wireless adaptor, then run .pet, by clicking on it in file manager.
You should then be able to connect (use Setup menu, or right click on taskbar wireless icon).
If you create a savefile upon shutting down Puppy, driver will be available next boot with the
adaptor plugged in, otherwise you will have to run the .pet each time.
EDIT: see version b a few posts down.
ozsouth ,greatly appreciate your help.installed the pet properly by clicking the pet file .reboot .double checked location of rtl8188eufw.bin and 8188eu.ko .both files are found in the expected folders . unfortunely rtl8188eu are not found on the select module menu .so it can not work.
I checked the pupsysinfo .I made a mistake .it is a Slacko64 Puppy 6.3.0 ,not Slacko64 Puppy 6.3.2 .Kernel version is unmistakably 4.1.11 .
this wifi adapter works on windows 10 beautifully. with the new pet file installed , it always complains no wireless network found on slacko64.
@issac99289928 - ok - version b attached. uninstall previous (via setup menu, puppy package manager), then install .pet below. Use at own risk.
I'm pretty sure this one will work.
uninstalled the previous version and used the b version.tried three network connection wizards . simple network setup complains no wireless networks found. network wizard finds the wireless network but is unable to connect the wireless network. frisbee find the wireless network and complain invalid key or password even though I keyed in the correct password and therefore is still unable to connect.
Perhaps run the following, to see if any other firmware needed:
dmesg | grep irmware
Also, being an older system/driver, you may need other than wpa2 key. Could try different types offered in connection options.
Not sure what else to try.
grep firmware shows nothing .I think it is pointless to spend too much time on this cheap wifi adapter .Thanks anyway.
issac99289928,
I agree with ozsouth in that you should run "dmesg".
I think you should do the following
Start Puppy Linux without USB WIFI dongle plugged in
make sure that the supplied new driver installed
in a terminal, run "tail -f /var/log/messages"
plug in dongle, and watch /var/log/messages for anything relavent
in another terminal run "dmesg"
If possible can you paste the output of dmesg here, or add the output as an attachment in your reply.
Also if possible paste the output of "lsmod"
Compiling and matching up drivers can be such a pain.
the log from simple network setup is as shown below

rtl8188eu-64k4.1.11b.pet works on slacko64 6.3.0 after a few more tries .I don't know why .It really works .thanks.
@issac99289928 - There is a vast repository of old drivers, which I forgot to check. Someone made a driver for this in 2018.
You may wish to try it. Is here: https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... 4.1.11.pet
the installation of 8188eu_slacko64-k4.1.11.pet ends with a reminder that states blacklist rtl8188eu if unsuccessful .8188eu_slacko64-k4.1.11.pet is absolutely unworkable . rtl8188eu-64k4.1.11b.pet can work 3 out of 10 .rtl8188eu is a pain for slacko64 .I have a workable mt7601u adapter for slacko64 .time to move on.
