making post easier to understand

Post by wizard »

When you read through many of the forum post about programs you find that neither the subject nor the content of the post tells what the program does. An example (not picking on anyone, because there are hundreds) subject line from a recent post was "Discord-portable" and the content says nothing about what Discord is. Searching on the web shows it to be "all-in-one voice and text chat for gamers that’s free, secure, and works on both your desktop and phone"

IMHO, putting something descriptive in the subject line or in the first line of the post will help peak the interest of readers and improve our ability to search the forums content.

I agree, but!

That is all up to the person that started the topic.
The first post of the topic, has all the information displayed for the topic.
the subject of the first post is the subject of the topic.

Correct info in the first post is all up to the poster.

We the posters, of a new topic, are our worse enemies!

you are correct bigpup.

We all suffer from some myopia, thinking because we understand what we are talking about, that everyone else does too. I've always liked your byline, which clearly points that out.
