Newbie here, so I hope I’m posting in the right place!
I’ve been using Puppy linux for a couple years now, and the zoom chrome browser extension has worked pretty well so far. However, I have not been able to get the zoom client to work despite many futile attempts.
Puppy version: XenialPup64-7.5, running frugal install.
Steps taken:
0. Made sure all of zoom’s dependencies were installed and that the previous zoom was correctly uninstalled (it left some hidden folders, all of which I deleted after searching for them using Bash).
1. Downloaded zoom deb file for Ubuntu (tried 16.04+ and 12.04)
2. Installed zoom deb file with PPM, Puppy said it installed successfully.
3. Opened zoom (tried from both menu and command line, same results)
Results:
Zoom’s window looks grayed out. When I move the window or open/close Chrome, it “refreshes” and shows the login screen. The window continues to be frozen unless I am literally dragging it around (so for instance, when I type my credentials I cannot see what I am typing until I move the window).
The window also sometimes becomes transparent or exhibits the strange “Windows XP lagscreen” behavior
Has anyone had this issue or know what to do? I have submitted a report with zoom, but I’m not sure that it’s an issue on their end. It’s a big enough problem for me that it could be the dealbreaker for continuing to use Puppy long-term if I can’t get it sorted.
