NO Problems booting 240504 64bit versions in a VM

Within VM, launches are reaching desktop

  1. Direct ISO file boots successful

  2. ISO file boots successful when launched from Ventoy AND SG2D

PC used for testing
Dell i5
8GB RAM
nVidia adapter
Ventoy USB stick
HDMI to TV
Comment: On my test PCs, if an ISO doesn't boot in the VMs I use, they WONT BOOT on bare-metal as they yield the identical same results.

VM Stanza - QEMU emulator version 7.2.9 (Debian 1:7.2+dfsg-7+deb12u5)

Code: Select all

qemu-system-x86_64 -name "S15Pup64 v240504" -enable-kvm -smp 2 -m 2048 -vga std -device AC97 -net nic -net user -rtc base=localtime -boot order=d -cdrom /mnt/sda2/boot-isos/S15Pup64-22.12-240504.iso
qemu-system-x86_64 -name "VoidPup64 v240504" -enable-kvm -smp 2 -m 2048 -vga std -device AC97 -net nic -net user -rtc base=localtime -boot order=d -cdrom /mnt/sda2/boot-isos/VoidPup64-22.02-240504.iso

S15Pup32 and S15Pup64 new version 240505 to fix lxterminal problem - thanks Clarity

Verified! S15PUP64 is operating smoothly and appears stable. Very nice!

The Test Table for this thread's ISO files is updated to reflect environments that are working without issues. It remains on the thread here

Will VoidPUP64 be getting similar fix for same "LxTerminal" problem?

Below problem report
This was reported earlier this year for S15PUP64. Did see a reference to another external explanation, but I elected to wait.
The "Persistence" in the error message is my partition with the Sessions folder containing ALL sessions which are booted on this PC.

I ask;

  1. Is it advisable to upgrade e2fsck? And if so, which version or where should it be sourced to get e2fsck in this PUP?

  2. Or should I continue to wait as this is expected to be resolved in an upcoming maintenance release?

Code: Select all

# e2fsck -f /dev/sdb3
e2fsck 1.46.5 (30-Dec-2021)
/dev/sdb3 has unsupported feature(s): FEATURE_C12
e2fsck: Get a newer version of e2fsck!

Persistence: ********** WARNING: Filesystem still has errors **********

In the past, I boot FATDOG on the PC using its 'e2fsck' to repair. But each time I reboot S15, I get the message on each boot.

@peebee - disappointingly, this s15pup64, as is (like 240505 & without any customising), will not play DRM videos via Firefox ESR (240420 & earlier did).

Does the (full) Firefox .sfs from:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lxpup/ ... /browsers/
help?
