Move files & folders up or down a level with keyboard commands

Post by szept »

When I need to move file to location let's say one level up, e.g. from /files/media/images/ to /files/media/ I'd normally (in Lubuntu as well as Win7) select the file, strike magic keys CTRL+X, hit BACKSPACE to go one location up and press CTRL+V and that's all done.

How do I do that in Easy, because I cannot find cut option?

normally I use ctrl-x ctrl-v for cutting and pasting text paste.............
are you asking if it will work for files in rox?

easiest for me in rox is to open two windows and drag and drop
you can select multiple files with ctrl and left click

Yes files and yes, I do drag and drop, but that's not the optimum way to do it I think :)

While keeping Shift key pressed drag your selected files to the leftmost icon (usually looks like an upward arrow). Will move the files to the parent directory.

What does Ctrl+X in Easy do? Delete a file? That would be cool, because that's how ROX-Filer used to work.

Just tested in EasyOS 5.4.1. Ctrl+X does delete.

Huh, so that's unusual, but will do the job - thanks!

Yup - permanent removal. Personally I didn't like it, so I swapped it for DEL key :)
