Some good news for EasyOS
I downloaded the latest Blender 4.0 alpha from
https://builder.blender.org/download/da ... ase.tar.xz
and I found it reasonably stable (only one crash so far)
and also it solved my problem with the subsurface modifier.
Note:I must keep Blender in 'Render' viewport mode
and I can see the modified object correctly including color(see image)
Previously the object would disappear if I had modifier 'ON' which made BLENDER unusable.

This is a good sign that EasyOS is staying parallel to the mainline distros.
