Where are the EasyOS man pages & how to set a fixed IP address?

Post by NixMan »

Hi All,

New EasyOS user, though a long-time Linux user.

Two initial questions:

1) Where are the man pages?

$ man man produces no results. Poking around the file system has yielded no results. What am I missing?

2) How to set a dedicated DNS ip address?

I use piehole running on a separate Linux device for DNS resolution. I need to point EasyOS to the dedicated ip address for this network-attached device. Initial investigations suggest that EasyOs uses the dhcpcd daemon for managing DNS addressing. However, without man pages for review, I am still in the dark finding a resolution. What am I missing?

Thanks for your assistance in advance,
NixMan

I've never needed to set a fixed IP address, but I'll bet if you click the Setup icon on the desktop, then choose Network, then Network Wizard, one of the many choices there can do what you want. I can't help with the man pages question.

EasyOS uses NetworkManager, same that many of the mainline distros use.

As I recall, NetworkManager has its own in-house dhcpcd.

You will need to study online docs for NetworkManager.

man pages are left out to save space; however, typing "man <name of utility>" may bring up an appropriate web page.

Also, try the menu "Help -> Doc Launcher"

You can set static IP through Network Manager. Please choose IP4 or Ip6 after choose manual method. After that provide fixed IP address, Mask address and gateway address. I have been using fixed ip in Puppy Linux and EasyOS for the past 15/20 years. I am also using network printer connected with socket address.
