Printer Canon LBP 3010 in EasyOS

Post by Maybe »

Hello!

I recently got an old Canon LBP 3010 laser printer. I just can't get it to work in EasyOS. Please, dear users and creator of EasyOS, help!

ps: drivers from Canon LBP 3010, also compatible with Canon LBP 3018 and LBP 3050 models

@Maybe
deleted (foomatic doesn't support your printer)

Looks like this is the only way to use your printer.

Had a second look at this one today.

Hi @Maybe ,

goto https://my.canon/en/support/LASER%20SHO ... 3050/model and download the CAPT Printer Driver for Linux V2.71 at https://my.canon/en/support/0100459601?model=2611B002

After downloading and extracting the 'linux-capt-drv-v271-uken.tar.gz' file you'll have two Debian files available at
/files/downloads/linux-capt-drv-v271-uken/64-bit_Driver/Debian/

'cndrvcups-capt_2.71-1_amd64.deb' and 'cndrvcups-common_3.21-1_amd64.deb' install both of them by clicking on the Deb-icon.

At /files/downloads/linux-capt-drv-v271-uken/Doc/ you will have the
'README-capt-2.7.1.UK.txt' file with all the information you need as well as
'guide-capt-2.7xUK.tar.gz' offering a HTML guide for the Canon printer installation and setup.

Code: Select all

The Canon CAPT Printer Driver for Linux supports the following Canon products.

At line number 224/225 it says:
Canon LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050 (CNCUPSLBP3050CAPTK.ppd)
LBP3050/LBP3018/LBP3010

Canon needs it's own support daemon called 'ccpd'.
The instructions on how to do that start at line number 242

Just had a look inside the .PPD file at /usr/share/cups/model/CNCUPSLBP3050CAPTK.ppd
*cupsVersion: 1.1
*cupsManualCopies: True
*cupsModelNumber: 78
*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 pstocapt3"
*ModelName: "Canon LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050 CAPT (UK)"

The /etc/init.d/ccpd script needs to be modified to fit EasyOS.
