How Inkscape1.1, Solvespace work in EasyOS 2.9, 3.1

Post by Misaligned »

Noticed that inkscape has some issues with opening or saving files ("EasyOS 2.9"), inkscape just shuts down. I had the same problem on FatDog. After downloading the newest version (appimage) - I think it is 1.1 - it works, unless I have to drill down too far in the folder structure.

SolveSpace 3, works but it is very sluggish in comparison to the version on Easy 2.5.5. and its the same computer.

Not sure what the reasons are, just thought I mention it. Does someone else experience the same?

Greetings

Maybe it is your video hardware.

It has been awhile since I used Solvespace, but I use Inkscape regularly without any problems.

Downloaded Easy 3.1 ... Inkscape and Solvespace are good now :).
Not sure what the difference is between 2.9 and 3.1, I will probably
try 2.9 on a different storage medium.

3.1 has the gallium dri drivers, see /usr/lib/dri -- new files in there.

I capitulated and included /usr/lib/libLLVM-9.so in the build. Didn't want to, as it is so big, 60MB.
But it does give improved video acceleration for many nvidia and amd cards.

Code: Select all

# ldd /usr/lib/dri/nouveau_dri.so

Thanks for looking into this. Interesting. But since it works in 3.1 I am good.

Still a little bit puzzled that a video driver would cause inkscape to shut down by just invoking the file open dialog?
