Try one of those binary packages. Install it and later save your data on CD. Next time when you will boot that CD freebasic will be ready to work.

Those two are for every 32bit linux:
FreeBASIC-1.08.1-linux-x86.tar.xz
FreeBASIC-1.08.1-linux-x86.tar.gz

tar.xz and tar.gz are universal packages.

I'm afraid not. No basic pre-installed. In devx.sfs should be bacon (basic to c converter/compiler).

OK
on this page :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/old412forever/files/

there are few old puppy derivates and i read somewhere that version 4.2 have
preinstalled FreeBasic

i download both i found there but unfortunatelly they refuse to boot on my wm on win7

So it looks that only solution would be remastering ?
is that right ?

let say this way ...
i am not very experienced with that ..
but i know and tested one thing
Old Saluki Puppy 0.23 work out of box in any wm or qemu ,
so what if I put it on USB stick as ISO ,...can i then add one of this package into that USB stick to be permanent
i mean as part of distro?

Why you want to boot it from vm? If you have CD-rom you can burn that iso on CD and boot it directly. Later install FreeBasic and when Puppy ask you if you want make save file choose yes and later save to CD. Puppy's CD is multisession CD it could save your data on the same CD with booted system.

You can program in W7 directly or try cross-compiling - compiling on W7 for Linux:

I don't want to use any CD burn ,i waste to much time in the past on CD roms .
It is easier and better put it on USB stick then boot.
and today insisit on CD roms ..well i don't know what to say .

So make bootable USB from this iso and boot it, install freebasic and make save file on that usb. Puppy in next boot will have freebasic ready to codding.

Hi @Aston, I hope this is helpful.

@puppy_apprentice provides a helpful strategy.

I am NOT familiar with the product you seek, YET, I can't help but feel forum member @williams2's post here would be useful in your pursuit. Just change the name to your product's source download.

I use version 1.07.1 of this compiler in Fossapup for small tasks. First you need to find out which version will work in version 4.2. Hardly anyone checked.

I think you just forgot or confused the two BASICs. The old Puppy did not have FreeBASIC, but Gambas. Now Gambas is big (GTK3, QT5, Wayland) and therefore disappeared.

Fossapup OS, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 64 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, Sound Blaster Audigy Rx with amplifier + Yamaha speakers for loud sound, USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro V3 + headphones for quiet sound.

so that old 4.2 dont have built in freebasic than gambas ..oh that sucks
by the way all versions i downoaded not boot in wm

It looks that only way for me to use old Saluki023rc and remaster it with FreeBasic compiler.

You can make .sfs package too:
viewtopic.php?p=2279&i=1
if you don't want to install anything and don't want to use save file/dir.
But freebasic should be working without installation to. Unpack it whatever you want in root.

It is probably .tcz and not .tzc.
Uextract supports extracting almost anything, included .tcz files.
UExtract-4.4 - A Universal/Utter/Ultimate/Uhatever Extractor
