Bionicpup64 freezes after opening firefox

Hello!
Here is a message from a Bionicbeaver 32 user.
My HP Elitebook is relatively new so Bionicpup64 should be the option to install.
However, as I tried BP64 from a usb stick (ext32) and installed Firefox using Quickpet, BP64 froze after firing up Firefox.
I could still move the mouse cursor.
I could see a few lines on the desktop.
When I pushed the 'poweroff' button I could hear the two barks, as always music to my ears,
and suddenly Firefox fired up. But the frozen state remained. May sound weird, but that's how it was.
Done the above a couple times to be sure I did nothing wrong.
I did perform an installation and got the same result. (For the sake of science.)
Perhaps someone who knows about these things can look into this matter?
I downloaded BP64 from the link on this forum. The introduction post, if you will.

If this is Bionicpup64 8.0.

Have you done an initial shutdown making a save file or folder.
Booted now using the save?
Best to do that before trying to install anything.

Dos it have a save icon on the desktop?

Have you run Quickpet->Info->Bionicpup updates?
Rebooted and saved, so these changes are now being used?

See what happens now with Firefox.

If I'm correct the problem relates to a 64-bit Bionicpup64 frugal install to a USB-stick. Was it formatted Linux Ext2 or Linux Ext3?
Did you update Quickpet before using it to install firefox?
Regardless of your answer to the last question, I recommend using the portable version of firefox from here, viewtopic.php?p=241#p241. Move the firefox folder it creates to /mnt/home. It's designed to (a) auto-update, and (b) as it keeps its profiles (addons, bookmarks, settings) but more importantly its web-cache in its own folder when run from /mnt/home these will not occupy RAM.
You can bookmark (in rox) the firefox folder and start firefox by clicking the 'ff' script. The attached pet will create a menu entry. Note, however, that its expects to find the executable in the /mnt/home/firefox64 folder. Open /root/my-applications/bin/firefox_portable in a text editor and change that if your firefox folder is somewhere else or otherwise named.

Based upon limited information, I think the problem may be a "missing" SWAP setup.

Excuses for not giving enough information.
I have tried several file systems ext2-3-4, with the same outcome.
I am familiar with pupsave and updating ppm and quickpet, I have used Puppy's before.
The same usb stick worked very fine on my older HP 6730b laptop, downloading, installing (the latest version) firefox and all.
Installed PClinuxOS (the xfce light version) on my hp Elitebook, hate to be moving away from Puppy, but this (also) systemd free os works very fine.
This issue remains unresolved for now and I am sorry for that.

It steps forward one step and goes back two steps with issues.

Puppy has no control over Firefox working correctly.

I think I know what is happening.

I booted Bionicpup64 8.0.
Fully updated it with Quickpet->Info->Bionicpup updates.
Used quickpet->Browsers->Firefox to install Firefox.
This is downloading a older version of Firefox from the Bionicpup64 pet repository.
As soon as you start this Firefox it checks for newer version and downloads it.
Under Firefox help->About firefox
It will have a button to click on to apply the update.
Do that and it updates.
But this will not be the latest update.
So it starts downloading the newest update of Firefox.
Under Firefox help->About firefox
It will have a button to click on to apply the update.
Do that and it updates finally to latest version.

I started with Firefox 62.0.2
Ended with Firefox 85.0.2

That auto update downloading is probably causing the freezing at first start of Firefox.
It did a little on my computer, until Firefox was finally finished updating.
Went into Firefox preferences and changed Updates to:
check for updates, but let you choose to install them

Fossapup64 9.5 would be much better version of Puppy to use.

Done that already. Like i said, I am not unfamiliar with puppy. And firefox.

(Not on my older laptop HP 6730b when I did exactly the same for comparison sake. I got the latest version of firefox, 85.0.2. 'About firefox' reads it is up to date. Using the same usb stick)

On my my "new" HP Elitebook it hangs or freezes when it starts up. So there no way that I can update the browser. Or do anything at all.

I very much appreciate your effort in helping me out.

But I have find that PCLinuxOS works very fine on this HP Elitebook.
I had bionicpup32 installed, but I had issues with banking, I think it had to do with Firefox being 32bit, thus perhaps a security measure from the bank's perspective.
Also, the cursor jumped as I was typing.

But now i am a bit weary trying and fixing things.

Linux is never boring though!
