Re: KVRT

For the majority of the cases I do not like antivirus software, they are invasive and who knows what they send when they call back home. Kaspersky is apparently an efficient antivirus but, apart from the above, is made by that particular country known to have a debatable IT moral and practices. Anot...

Re: Whats up in Puppy World

Back in 2004 I started studying by myself Linux over books and used Suse, IT was my main passion, wanted to work in this field so took several courses and though to register at University. This did not happen for personal reason and I ended up studying and working in a different field, yet IT was an...

my opinion is that (which actually includes both of your main reflections) if a member decides to take a pause, for whatever reason(s) & whatever length, this person has, well, the right and reasons; at the same time it is nice & (hopefully) it triggers an honest response from other users wh...

annoying horizontal scroll bar

Hi, With vanilladpup I experience an annoying horizontal scroll bar in several windows, which often covers some content of them and in the worst case scenario even prevents from selecting/clicking what is inside it easily. It needs some playing around the the mouse cursor as the bar appears momentar...

Re: critical issue with booting usb stick

thank you dimkr for your answer. I do not like using Balena Etcher, so huge piece of software for a simple task. I tried bootflash and, despite it not launching GRUB in the usb stick it did boot vanilladpup straight away (but it did not pick up the save dir during the boot process, a feature that my...

Re: Clicking on desktop makes all icons disappear; again and they reappear

If you want to unplug the flash drive you're booting from you'll need to avoid any kind of persistency and copy to RAM. You can do this by adding pfix=ram . If you're saving changes the flash drive remains mounted. I flash the puppy's ISO to my usb stick then I boot it and frugally install (savedir...

Re: Clicking on desktop makes all icons disappear; again and they reappear

sorry for the delayed answer. It is not an issue of the amount of RAM (my PC has got 16 GB). It is not an issue of unplugging the usb stick whilst some necessary files are used by it. The issue does not show up straight after a fresh frugal BWpup 64bit installation but days after. The most likely cu...

but I was referring to the X.org version of your vanilladpup 10.* I understand that, but I prefer to spend less of my time on deprecated stuff that will go away in future versions. @dimkr perhaps could resolve this in the next build?

Redshit doesn't support Wayland so this is a dead end, I feel like it's a waste of development time.

I get your point :) but I was referring to the X.org version of your vanilladpup 10.*

DeaDBeeF version

Hi,
just continuing playing with vanilla dpup.

BWpup64's deadbeef is version 1.9.6 whilst vanilla dpup's one is still 1.8.8 since a while.

Just curious, it is hold back for any reason in particular?

Thank you.

Hi, I have had this critical issue since I have started trying vanilla dpup, since version .48. If issuing the command you might want to try including the path to the PuppyPin file rox -p /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin If the PuppyPin file has become corrupted or problematic in some way, as rockedge says, the original is in the main puppy.sfs So with a frugal it would probably be a case of ...

Re: issue with rox/pinboard

rox -p default & it gives me grey background/pinboard I was not doing anything particular, just playing with dmesg -w and my ethernet cable that for a mysterious reason first passed away than resurrected after 3 fiddling around the socket, I am sure this is unrelated with my rox/pinboard issues.
