Re: XFCE, Lxde & Other, alternate, Window Managers

The best part of Xfce (in my opinion) is the xfce4-panel when combined with the xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin. Topping it off with a complete icon set, so that there are no missing icons in the menus will allow for great customisation and a more polished look and feel. You don't need the entire suite of ...

Rather than zentile I would suggest, which is based on zentile.

Yeah, I took a look at it. I couldn't get it to install properly using golang, as per the instructions. The nice thing about zentile is that you can download the pre-compiled binary.

Re: Vanilla Dpup 9.3.0 beta3

Good news I got the latest Nvidia driver working for my card. I had to jump through some hoops to get it working so here are the steps I took for those who are interested. 1) Go to the nvidia website https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us . Select the appropriate boxes for your video ...

Re: Vanilla Dpup 9.3.0 beta3

The Debian package of the driver should work just fine, but I don't have any NVIDIA GPU I can use to reproduce your problem and suggest a solution. Sorry. Thank you for trying. Although not 100% certain, I am inclined to believe that it's a driver problem from the Debian distro repo. My hardware se...

Re: How to get some Window Tiling features in Jwm

This thread was initially only used to get tiling working in jwm, but since I have pseudo-tiling options enabled in other window managers, I thought I'd add the info, here. Please note that newer versions of jwm has 4 features that I would call pseudo-tiling. You can add these keybindings to your .j...

Re: How to get some Window Tiling features in Jwm

There is a good script here that I believe @MochiMoppel wrote and it works great in fossapup. It works! Thank you! Just a note that you need to install wmctrl before it will work. Fossapup already has wmctrl installed by default. Also it may override your existing keybindings, but you can alter the...

Re: Vanilla Dpup 9.3.0 beta3

@TurtleX I wonder if Stickyjwm will work in this case? This script will add tiling features to the jwm desktop. I tried it in Fossapup first and it worked out of the box. When I installed it in this Vanilla Dpup, nothing seemed to happen. So I extracted the pet from https://www.forum.puppylinux.com...

Re: How to get some Window Tiling features in Jwm

Thanks. It works on my Devuan 9 with JWM You're welcome. I've never tried Devuan before. My favourite Debian spin at the moment is Spiral Debian. The xfce release is very clean and nice out of the box. Devuan is Debian without systemd if I recall correctly. I use Artix, which is Arch without system...

Ok, good to know. Just decided to add a howto using zentile. It gives a window manager some auto-tiling functions. Some might be interested.

Hello, I stumbled across this webpage https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=97950 and am requesting if this feature could be added as standard. Disregard the old info about wmctrl. All you need to do is add the following lines to /.jwm/jwmrc-personal and you get windows-snap functions. <Ke...

Re: Vanilla Dpup 9.3.0 beta3

nouveau and nv are userspace drivers, it's normal to have them loaded and unused. Ok, I'm learning so much here. Blacklisting using /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf should work just fine, if you save the changes before you reboot.
