Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
Looks good to me. I am not sure this is really needed. It actually started when there was a really detailed flow chart of Puppy Linux development and releases. That link; See Puppy Linux Family Tree, would take you to this flow chart. But that flow chart is so out of date now. Well, here is the ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
And to provide the remaining 20% documentation specific to a build, I am trying to do exactly that in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/3655. Once it is complete and the reviewers accept it, it may be merged into woof-CE :thumbup2:. (And you may also be able to see there the amount ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
I think a file for usage of package manager would be needed as well. I'll work on it tomorrow. Keep in mind, that most Puppy programs, have their own help, that is accessed by clicking the help in the actual program, main window. Puppy Package Manger is this file: usr/local/petget/help.htm I wonder ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
And as you're online now, I wanted to discuss the HOWTO_modem.htm (which I renamed to HOWTO_dialup.htm) problem with you. Does woof-CE still support connecting using dialup method? And if yes, then how? I think its documentation would need most changes.

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
If you say so, I'll do it. But what I want that the puppy documentation opened by pressing Help button in the Menu should also contain a link to those documentations . How'd you do that? Just put a link to network.html in index.html, and supply network.html in two places: inside the connman-gtk ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
It may become a very tedious task to create documentation in petbuild dir and then copying it to /woof-code/rootfs-skeleton/usr/share/doc on build time. This copying is not a manual step during the build process. What I mean is, a Puppy built using woof-CE which has the connamn-gtk petbuild ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
I think it would be good enough if you put the ConnMan-related documentation inside the connman-gtk petbuild (woof-code/rootfs-petbuilds/connman-gtk/usr/share/doc) and the SNS documentation in woof-code/rootfs-packages/simple_network_setup/usr/share/doc. If you use the same file name (say, network ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
You'll need to find a way not to write documentation that's only true for jammy64. @peebee's builds don't have apt and don't use ConnMan, for example. So, leave documentation for jammy64? The docs must be kept for latest puppy, still having some if and else statements in it. For example, I have ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
bigpup , williwaw , as I used jammy64 more and more, I got to know what it does. For example, it uses connman-gtk as network manager. dimkr allowed us to add apt to jammy64. Now, apt is used as default package manager (PPM though can be used as well to install puppy specific packages). And there's ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
Do you know how I can make the scroll back button return to the TOC rather than to the top of the page? If the preface or heading was larger, one would have to scroll down to the TOC after using the button. Yes! Just a bit of javascript to be used. Take a look at installation.htm, line 8 to line 34 ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
in self built jammy64 You can build dpup (x86_64/debian/bullseye64) if you want to use something rock solid with a "big" browser (Firefox). Usually, that's what I do when I need to test a woof-CE change quickly. Thanks for advice, but I wanted to work on jammy64, and have resources limits. The hard ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
As for latest internet software is concerned, I recorded it here (in self built jammy64):- https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1d3sxTZCJfWp8172rGAiEAbmorEAgaXRQ As I was using qemu to run it, I could not do this with wireless. Will do that later on, by installing the puppy to hard drive. Will also write ...

Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced

Re: New user, confused about verisons to download & pupmode
LLe , as dimkr posted, try checking if the iso file is correct. Unfortunately, the md5/sha checksums for the iso is/are not found. A solution might be checking iso size and comparing it with that of external one (though does not provide much information). If you can, why not trying to redownload ...

@user1234 I am looking at the files you have in the last doc directory you posted. Re: Puppy documentation needs updated or replaced
I think it would be better to have everything in one pull request, but we can do separate ones. It will be about 2 weeks before I will be ready to offer one for what I have done. I also have to get up to speed with Github to make a PR for index.html.bottom. @user1234 Is forking to my own repo and ...
