USB Install: Fossapup from Slacko.

Long story short, the mighty ASUS gave up the ghost. I am now using a Windows 10 Dell Latitude E5430. 16 GB RAM. It is superior to the ASUS, but Windows 10...aaaarrrrgh. I attempted to install Fossapup for a Dual Boot system as I did with the 2012 Windows 8 ASUS, the 2001 Sony VAIO, and the 2003 Win...

Slacko-5.8.10_r7862

What are the technical requirements for this one? Normally it seems as though Puppy Linux 5.2, possibly 5.4, is the practical limit.

Flashing Red Battery Symbol

Hello, everyone. I have Puppy Linux 6.3.0 Slacko RAM-"installed" on my ASUS. Its hard drive is shot and since my brother is holding up legal matters (enabled by a system that wants this to go on forever) I cannot get a new one, which will likely be a solid-state drive. So it's Puppy Linux ...

Cannot right-click with touchpad in 6.3.0

Before, I could use the touchpad to right-click if you just very-lightly tapped the lower right corner of the touchpad.

But that stopped working. I do not know why.

Is there something I can install so CLICKING the touchpad will now work?

With the Puppy Linux Palemoon browsers I cannot post anything at Steam while using a browser.

Do you now need to use the app to do this or is it a browser issue?

Fenyo, Browsers, and...the old Sony - a long ramble

First, sorry for the delay. I’ve been dealing with health problems, walking in on a suicide attempt, a relative causing endless legal hassles, and other problems, but it’s nice to be back here again, among COMPETENT people who can and have helped get things done! Here’s an update: The 2012 ASUS expe...

What browser for VAIO with 256 MB RAM?

Well, I guess many here know I'm trying to get a better browsing experience with that crummy new Deviantart website style. I'm trying to use a 2001 Sony VAIO 256MB Pentium 3 800 MHz device. It has Puppy Linux 5.2.5 Lucid. The demands of this distro are the practical limits. So- are there any prefera...

Re: Thank You, Puppy Linux USB

The device in question here is a Puppy Linux 5.2.5 Lucid/XP 2001 Sony VAIO; 256MB, 800MHz Pentium 3 Processor. Intel Integrated chip from that time.

In XP mode one can post properly on Deviantart, albeit slowly- but with WINE in Puppy Linux mode it is far too slow, even by my standards.

Running 32-bit Puppy from USB in an old ASUS laptop: some questions.

After my experience with Windows over the years, the trouble Windows 10 has given people, especially for gamers, and the fact I do not appreciate being constantly nagged to “upgrade” to Windows 10, well... A bit of background. I was never overly fond of Microsoft although I would always prefer it to...

Thank You, Puppy Linux USB

My ASUS' hard drive has given up the ghost. I was hoping it was a virus or such, but after several resets and setting everything up again it was obvious the hard drive was done for. Thanks to a law firm not doing what it should have done months ago and a passive-aggressive relative not signing a pie...

Re: Can't run 32-bit programs in 32- or 64- bit Fossapup-9.5

For Steam I used that "Quickpet" list- the same one that has GIMP and the 32-Bit compatible. No luck. Come to think of it, I've never successfully installed Steam in any way on any Puppy Linux, including Fossapup. I've tried using DOSBox's own keyboard mapping and that mapping file which d...

Re: Can't run 32-bit programs in 32- or 64- bit Fossapup-9.5

Well, the GIMP problem has been solved. I did the updating as instructed. But the direction key problem with DOSBox is still there. And when I try to install Steam I get a "Fatal Error: Cannot Load SteamUI.so" or something like that. I terminated it by deleting everything figuring how's TH...

Re: Fossapup-64 9.5 and 32-Bit Apps...Problem.

I've been having some really weird troubles with Fossapup 64 9.5. The Puppy Linux PET version of DOSBox installs and works, except instead of the normal direction keys it uses the clumsier numeric direction keys (8, 6, 2, 4). I've tried using and altering the virtual keys on DOSBox itself (CTRL + F1...

Re: Pale Moon 'portable' browsers - 32- & 64-bit

If a version of Palemoon 28 does in fact work on Puppy Linux 5.2.8 is there a chance it will work on 5.2.5? I installed that DEB PET but it had no effect. The versions of Palemoon 28 and 29 used were uninstalled portables (they work with later OS). Is there a particular version of 28 which needs to ...

Re: Fossapup-64 9.5 and 32-Bit Apps...Problem.

Well, I downloaded the SFS manually just to stash it on a USB stick for backup, and though it was a bit of a hassle I also did it the fancier way.

Long story short so far the results are good. Not quite as good as with Tahrpup, but MUCH better.

As usual one gets good results here. Thank you. :)

Can't run 32-bit programs in 32- or 64- bit Fossapup-9.5

Well, I finally went and did it- I downloaded a 64-Bit recent version of Puppy Linux and used Lick to install it. So now the ASUS has Windows 8 64-Bit/Puppy Linux Tahrpup 6.0.5 32-Bit/Puppy Linux Fossapup 9.5 64-Bit. It all began on Steam. I mentioned the ASUS being able to handle every single game ...
