Re: JammyPup32 (UPupJJ+D-22.04) JammyJellyfish+Debian Woof-CE build 05-Aug-2022

Hello, I'm having a little trouble booting this one up. I have no issues booting xenialpup64, bionicpup64 or fossapup64 - I use grub4dos to load any of these from a folder in the hard drive (pupmode 5). But no success with jammypup32...the kernel boots OK, but then the init says the sfs is not found...

5.16.13 with the fix-fsctx patch , which returns a normal shutdown and reboot to kernels whose versions are newer than 5.4. In other words, with the "null pointer dereference" bug fixed. Compiled in Fossapup. Checked in Jammypup. huge-5.16.13-fossapup64.tar.bz2 kernel_sources-5.16.13-foss...

I suggest looking at http://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.p ... 1&start=10

For instance, try:

Code: Select all

root# brightness-set down

And then setting shortcut keys in JWM

You should try downloading the driver from intel https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/14611/15817/intel-network-adapter-driver-for-pcie-intel-gigabit-ethernet-network-connections-under-linux.html?product=32210 and follow the instructions provided for manually building the driver https://...

Re: Bullseye - Android emulator

Don't know how this would work on a dog, but I was able to make it work in puppy (fossapup64) http://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=2517 If you have systemd, then you probably won't need step 9. It could work directly after getting the snap as described in step 5/6, or you might need some/all ...

Re: Running android apps on puppy natively

OK, the good thing is that I too was able to launch anbox successfully in a different machine :) Puppy can now officially run android apps too :P It wasn't launching in my usual machine as its CPU doesn't support SSE 4.2 instructions natively, which apparently was essential, so it really wasn't a ke...

Re: Spot is failing to work in Bionicpup64 8.0

I was able to reproduce the error by intentionally putting wrong permissions on a few files in /bin Couple of things you can try: root# chmod 755 /bin/* Or get the original puppy_bionicpup64_8.0 iso - double click it and the puppy_bionicpup64_8.0.sfs - then copy the /bin folder in this sfs to root, ...

xx_T3n0ch_X Sorry, one more similar attempt, can you try the above, but with 192.168.250.2 instead of 192.168.250.1? The default bridge address as per the documentation is the latter, but perhaps it has defaulted to the former for some reason. as for the kernel: uname -a Linux puppypc66 5.4.53 #1 S...

Re: 'ckb-next' From Updated PPM Not Running

The main reason why the version found on the PPM is failing is because it was compiled on ubuntu, which has systemd. Puppy uses its own different manager. Since I use puppy in RAM mode only, I don't mind installing and trying several things, for learning purposes. I've tried installing the ubuntu ck...

After you adjust your equalizer settings, save them in a preset. Is this supposed to be changing levels while it runs? So you should ...

I had left this on standby - just came back to it and had a fresh look, with a few things I learned in the meantime. Re: Password and read and write issue

The probable reason why you were able to install FoxitReader the way you did is because you executed the file from ROX (therefore as root), whereas in your first attempt it seems you were launching it from your browser (therefore as spot). Spot cannot change any files outside /home/spot - which answ...

Re: Installing nvidia driver from quickpet entry without reboot

Some time ago I did it on machine which had an Nvidia Quadro. Since I only use puppy in mode 5 (RAM only), rebooting would not be an option if it needed to be done on-the-fly. The caveat is that it had 2 display cards (one Intel) and multiple monitors. I didn't do it with the .PET - download the Lin...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity

Seems there is no solution by using the audio, since a process locks down in ALSA until it sends a message to release it, so it's down to the programming in the player. For instance, manually pausing a video on youtube does not unlock it, but watching until the end does. Anyway, another surrogate wo...
