Testing Links From Search Engine Results

I have worked with some Apache configurations to ensure that the links to the John Murga forum will work as expected. IMPORTANT: Before the tests Clear your browser's cache thoroughly Please, when possible try a search with https://psearch.puppylinux.com (click on the Puppy and the logo disappears ...

It is your forum!

No...it's not. I am just the guy throwing something together that might work for the community because at that moment I had access to some resources, and I happen to know how to steer the ship.

It's all just luck. And me borrowing, stealing and copying.

Re: Glitches in oldforum.puppylinux

@MochiMoppel I sent you a PM! I need some of your expertise to help write an Apache URL rewrite.

And HELLO everyone! You might see some weird errors as I am now on the murga VPS and working on some experiments to keep Links working throughout this transition

Re: House Training and Advanced Topics are for Puppy only

I get dejected at times as well. Minutes ago I was about to stop all my participation in the conversion and transfer project. I suddenly felt the picky criticism about the quality of the work, that seems to come from more than one direction made all the effort seem foolish. But the feeling will pass ...

Re: Glitches in oldforum.puppylinux

the other problem is the original forum version runs on PHP 5.4 and already by PHP 5.9 that no longer is the case. So the first step is from 2.0.21 -> 2.0.23 and the "oldest" web server I have on hand ready to go is PHP 5.9. Of course 2.0.21 does not run on 5.9. So the conversion starts and each ...

Re: Glitches in oldforum.puppylinux

probably fastest approach would be to redo the conversion Yes I do have the original database. How else would I have done this with out it? The conversion takes days to do and in 3-4 separate conversions going up a chain of versions. I have to go in steps. But it is possible and once most of the ...

Re: Glitches in oldforum.puppylinux

MochiMoppel there is a solution and we're going to have to script this ourselves. What if we wrote a PHP program that looks at the topic and post tables, identifies and locates the incorrectly encoded characters by directly accessing the phpBB database? The program would scan those tables looking ...

Re: Retro Style Theme for oldforum.puppylinux Avialable

@takenp maybe some day. Too many other technical things need to be finished before I mess with the complexity and multitude of the CSS files that go along with phpBB.

Sure it's do-able but why not just track down a style that someone already did all the hard work on?

MochiMoppel I am not sure yet! I noticed this and it occurred during the actual conversion. Even though I specifically set everything in UTF8-unicode-ci. Only possibility would be to access the VPS directly and add a .htaccess redirect or reconfigure the Apache server for a reverse proxy to oldforum.puppylinux.com

I have no access to the VPS or server that the original murga forum resides on.
