Re: Adding blank lines in GRUB2 menus

I just put in blank lines in GRUB2 without any problems... But for readability I usually keep lines of code for one frugal OS together with comment lines as required to remind me of specific changes. # 03 DPUP_Buster64 menuentry " DPUP_Buster64_Mate" { search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 1c...

Re: USB audio interface, no sound

I have used an external USB sound card for years in different forms. The recipe below is what I used to use, These days I simply use a puppy with pulse audio which makes picking up the external source easy, or I install pupseaudio to fossapup64. But to stick with ALSA... There is a particular issue ...

I installed poormanscputemp (or similar) last night. Works well. Its a DPup.pet that seems to work in Fossa64 and FP96. Dont have the link handy - sorry!

Is it possible to install these Desktop environments in other ways, eg in the package manager ?? Yes I think it is possible by renaming the yfrv to adrv or in some cases bdrv and then inserting the desktop eniviroment as the ydrv. @Geek3579 :- ./dwebp image.webp -o image.jpg .....DOES seem to work for me. Yeah, I know; according to Google's notes it'll convert both PNG and JPG to WebP.....but only Webp -> PNG is mentioned. (Webp -> JPG still works, though.) At least, for me it does. I think where you're going wrong is trying...

Re: What to do with .webp? [Solved] I think

There is a CLI binary pair (cwebp / dwebp) that I discovered that can convert images back and forth from .webp. Works under Fossapup64 with JPG images anyway. See https://developers.google.com/speed/webp pointing to https://developers.google.com/speed/webp/docs/precompiled I just picked the Linux64 ...

Re: F96-CE_1 with 6.0.12-FP Kernel Stable Release

I ran the updated ISO as a frugal install and it worked well. Great job !

But I note that there is a ydrv in use. I was hoping that I could use the Fossapup9.5 ydrv with LXDE or LXQt.

Is it possible to install these Desktop environments in other ways, eg in the package manager ??

:thumbup2: I also recommend EasyDD. Always works for the installation of an ISO and .img / raw disk image on a USB. I have had issues with Unetbootin back in past years and gave it the flick. I tried to run EasyDD once in another OS (MX-Linux) but it didnt run. So you have to run it from a Puppy OS .

Hi @shanper, If you install another linux OS, the odds are that the installer will wipe any and all partitions in the process, including any puppy os frugal installs. Not a good idea if you want to keep your current puppy accessible. Of course, you can save your savefolder and frugal files first, an...

While we are on this theme, I have lost the thread of the weedog project. Cant find any evidence of much action on the weedog forum. There are two other ways to transfer data between the VM and host The first given the host can run pure-ftpd. I prefer an LXDE environment for my home office, so I renamed the ydrv from Fossapup64.95 and added it to the frugal installation. It works very well, with one exception. Both ROX and PCManFM open any hard drive partition to display blank window. This does not happen with ROX under F96 . Suggestions...

Clarity has a better script. One could run -enable-kvm ONCE in the terminal, but its better in the CLI as you cant forget to run it as easily. Also adding -vga cirrus/stdio/etc is a good idea. You could try sharpening the image using the unsharp mask tool available in some photoprocessing apps. A useful command in Imagemagick is "convert -unsharp 15x5+2+0.05 inputfile.jpg outputfile.jpg" without the quotes. This is my default setting for this command and gives acceptable results...

And on a different tack...

I have been using the ydrv for LXDE meant for Fossapup64 in a version of frugally installed F96 and it seems to work well. I presume that it is perfectly acceptable to use this as F96 is, as I see it, a Fossapup64 derivative.

Please confirm.

The advice in previous posts is good. I will just add that if its a very simple setup eg on a small USB, then MSDOS is fine if you are not expecting to need more than 4 partitions including the boot (FAT32) partition. But if you are using a larger drive where you could profitably have more than 4 pa...

II dont run WINE from the PPM because of past issues, but always use a Portable WINE which works fine with Fossapup ( wine-portable-3.3_v.2.1b) and every other puppy os I have tried.

And I needed the 32bit-compatibilty-fossa64.sfs too found in quickpet fossa under the "Useful" menu.
