The only other thing I try sometimes is to add/extend the wait time in the GRUB2 code: nousbwait=10
I always have nousbwait=5 for all Puppy OS, BTW.

I tried it yesterday with Fossapup64 which has Pulseaudio installed. Worked well. Saves mucking around with a bash script as its always there in the menus ready for use.

I tried @mikewalsh's portable 5.11 with no useful results. Also tried a WINE appimage without success.
