Re: Google Earth Pro v7.3 cannot run on FD64 900 Beta although it can run on FD64 812

This is just an educated(ish) guess and I could be wrong, but since "gst" is in the error message I wonder if it is worth looking for a possible mismatch involving gstreamer libraries? Are these to be found in system or within the pre-compiled package or both?

How to compile xapp 2.6.1?

At a glance it looks like you would compile it with meson and ninja
When asking questions like that it would be helpful if you could post a link to source code and any other information so that we don't have to go searching for it.

Trying to duplicate the problem with FF+no sound. Below - you mention QuickPet on the desktop . I'm using S15Pup64. I can't see QuickPet . Gotta hint? Do you mean you are trying to duplicate the problem (of no sound) which you yourself don't have (why would you try to do that??) Or do you mean you ...

The plugin for VLC to work with libmicrodns should be:- /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vlc/plugins/services_discovery/libmicrodns_plugin.so If this is not present I suspect it may not work, unless the casting is using some other library instead. However I will post .PET packages of libmicrodns-0.2.0 comp...

Re: Bookworm Pup64 10.0

Following on from what bigpup posted a link to, I think in Debian the protobuf needed for VLC may be named libprotobuf-lite32 rather than just protobuf. It is listed as a dependency of vlc-plugin-base. I do recall this being one of the libraries that I had to add in the VLC which had casting working...

The version 3.0.18 I tried was installed using Synaptics package manager from the Debian repo, so no go for casting with it. OK, thanks for the clarification. Re: How to deal with missing packages/libraries while installing packages via PPM?

I can only offer a bit of general comment here. Be aware first of all that some packages are dropping support for 32bit these days, but if it shows up in PPM there should be a chance that you will be able to install it and dependencies should get installed as part of the process. That is not always ...

Interestingly, libcryptsetup12 (package name) shows as "Already Installed" in FossaPup PPM, but in fact I don't think it is. Anyway searching for that package by name in PPM and installing it will install that library plus the libargon dependency as fredx181 has said. libcryptsetup.so.12 s...

Re: How to install OpenVPN in Fusilli?

To create a new symlink you just need to do a couple of steps in ROX-filer file manager. If you are using a different file manager it might be a bit different but the principle should still be the same. Everything is done from within the /etc/vpn-onoff directory. If you want to use an extra .ovpn co...

I compiled libcanberra in xenial 64bit with optional dependency on libtdb disabled.
XenialPup64 users may wish to try installing the .pet to see if it stops the event-sound-cache files from being created.

Re: Cache maintenance question. .cache.event.sound.tbd files

I am confident that they don't serve any useful function in Puppy and that they can be deleted. They arise as part of a process designed to produce audible (sound) notifications when certain system events happen, but this is not implemented in Puppy at all. This involves libcanberra. The Ubuntu (and...
