Re: Slacko64 v.7.0 Script in StarUp folder doesn't run at startup

Could add Leafpad line to immediately before ### END ### in /usr/sbin/delayedrun - runs after X started. Won't need a 'sleep' there.

Re: Pets failing to install in Fossa9.6CE

amethyst - weird. Fossapup64-9.6CE-4 has tar & gzip in /bin. They are the same versions as in Fossapup64-9.5. I installed a .pet I gzipped - ok. I ran tar -zxvf on a tar.gz file (a driver file from github) - expanded ok & repeated it with xarchiver (just clicked on file in ROXFiler). I down...

@greengeek - I guess I meant I wouldn't be working on this any more, but feel free! I'll make it 'discontinued' instead. I'm concentrating on s15-ovrly (my daily-use pup) & fossa-less. I think the abiword TNR is somehow embedded.

bigpup - if no joy with dkms, newer 6.6 kernel nouveau driver worth a try: If you swap to a 6.6 ursmerge kernel, you may find, as mikewalsh did, his nvidia ran fine with nouveau driver for that kernel series. I made a 6.6.13 usrmerge kernel you may wish to try. See: https://forum.puppylinux.com/vie...

@keniv - as Jasper says, all green means protected (as long as you use the latest versions of ucode & tester). I would use the ucode modern pups provide as a preference. I mainly made this for those pups which don't supply ucode & Jasper is continuing it.

Re: Comparing aufs vs overlay

Looks like the way to go. Imitating aufs has issues. In my s15pup64ovrly, I have load/unload (view only) working, install/uninstall in pupmode 5 only, & queue/unqueue working otherwise (with a recent mitigation). Is functional, but less so than aufs. Good enough for me, but unionfs & chroot ...

Re: s15pup64-ovrly - overlayfs-only pup

As of v1, cryptsetup is in /sbin in the puppy .sfs & as of v4 (v3 & v4 based on s15pup64-231209), we don't copy the initrd version over at startup. Regardless, both cryptsetup versions are 1.7.5, so luks2 isn't currently an option. cryptsetup 1.7.5 Default compiled-in device cipher parameter...

A better approach - regarding 2 interesting queueing bugs in original & my v4 (& earlier) /usr/sbin/filemnt : Bug1. Allows filenames containing spaces to be queued. This causes Queueing to fail & needs manual repair. Bug2. Allows Puppy system SFS's to be queued. This will likely corrupt ...

Re: BookwormPup64 10.0.6

I noticed this bug in my s15ovrly pup - is here too. If an SFS file has a space in the filename, queueing fails, as EXTRASFSLIST uses space as a delimiter (see pic below - filename in it - flshgms s15o.sfs). Simple fix - NO SPACES IN SFS FILENAMES. Best fix - put each EXTRASFSLIST entry in double-qu...

Re: s15pup64-ovrly - overlayfs-only pup - bug in original

Found 2 interesting bugs in original /usr/sbin/filemnt - fix for first should work in any recent pup. 1. It allows filenames containing spaces. This causes queueing to fail. Best fix is to have each entry in EXTRASFSLIST in double-quotes. I put a note on 1st post forbidding spaces in filenames, but ...

@Jasper - I put a small script in /root/Startup so it runs every startup (or X restart). Pings google dns server every 45 sec. Should keep connection up, if you're still having issues. Must make it executable (in a terminal, chmod 755 /root/Startup/stayon). Use at own risk.

@mikewalsh - yes, that's why I said 'could be helpful'! I'd be interested to see what the output of the main script is on your pc. If you run (in terminal): /usr/local/Pup-SysInfo/func -sysinfo_sensors
then look at the contents of: /tmp/sysinfo-sensors
all will be revealed (hopefully!)

It works Ok.

But sure is a very barebones display.
Have to click on menu entry to run it.

Yes. You can make a desktop icon (see edited 1st post).
